Design number: Year: 1993
The Phoenix 77 is a composite ocean-going cruising yacht with an efficient circumnavigation under its belt. The design was commissioned by John Meller to meet his particular requirements, but also with an eye to the wider blue water market. Two of the yachts have been built, one by Pendennis Shipyard and the other by Hamble Yacht Services.
The design features a long waterline and with a high level of stability generating good sail-carrying power the boat delivers a high potential passage-making speed. Very much a sailor’s yacht the boat is well-balanced and the protected centre cockpit gives her an all-weather flavour.
The composite engineering work was carried out by Gurit (ex-SP Technology), and the interior design by Ken Freivokh.
