Design number: Year: 2009
HYD was commissioned early in 2008 by round the world sailor and race boat builder Jason Carrington to design a state of the art, high speed light displacement powerboat. Jason’s vision was to use the art and science of raceboat build technology to produce a very high-end product, both in terms of performance and aesthetics.
Project Eros is being built using high temperature SE84 prepreg carbon with Nomex and Core-Cell core materials. Powered by twin Steyr MO236HP diesel engines and 230 Alamarin water jets she will be capable of speeds of over 40 knots. The water jets also provide the added advantage of reduced draft, enabling her to access shallow bays and anchorages.
The HYD team has taken many the concepts and innovations introduced on larger projects and applied them to the design of Project Eros. One example is a water ballast system to increase her sea keeping ability and improve her low speed efficiency and control. She has a deliberately aggressive look with her deep vee hull and angular lines, yet maintains an air of classic styling. Ideal for use both as an independent day boat or as a tender to a superyacht, there is no doubt that she will turn heads.
